OOTD: Festival vibes in my Primark maxi dress

It finally felt like summer had begun on Sunday! The sun was shining and the skies were blue. So me and Jordan decided to make the most of it and head down to our home town’s music festival. We brought a picnic blanket and some snacks and made ourselves comfortable in the shade. We had a good view of the stage but we were far enough back to be out of the crowds.

I’ve been waiting for summer to begin ever since I bought a beautiful maxi dress from Primark a few weeks ago. Nothing makes me feel more summery than a maxi dress and the weather this week has given me the perfect opportunity to wear it!

It’s got a crochet type top and ties with tassels on the ends which create a keyhole when they’re tied up. It has an elasticated waist which is super comfortable. It’s also quite useful as you can move the waist up or down depending on how long you’d like the maxi dress to be. As you can see, the maxi dress I decided to wear yesterday is a rust colour but I also have it in black.

My favourite is definitely the rust one, but I just had to have the black one as well! You can match any colour with black so it gives you so many different options. Also all of the detail is on the top and the bottom is plain so the dress is fairly simple. It would be easy to match patterns to, such as a sassy animal print for example.

I think they’re both supposed to have a thin fabric belt around the waist but only my black maxi dress came with one. Someone must have taken it from the rust maxi dress while it was on display in the shop. It doesn’t need it though, in fact I think I prefer it without the belt.

My new choker from New Look looks perfect with the maxi dress! I bought it spontaneously in Nottingham on Saturday and I’ve loved it ever since. I’ve never tried a choker before but since I’ve had my nose pierced I feel so much more confident. I like it because the beads make it feel girly and different to other chokers I’ve seen people wearing.

I love the entire outfit but my favourite part is my new Fiorelli backpack. I bought it as a replacement for my old River Island one. I adored that bag but unfortunately the zip broke and it was never the same after that. But this one is so much cuter anyway!

It’s perfect for me because it has so many pockets! There’s one at the front for my bus pass and my keys. There’s one at the back to keep my phone safe. Plus they’ve all got zips which is really important for me. I need to know that my stuff is safe! The only issue I have with it is that the main zip is completely exposed so it would be easy for pick-pockets to get in without me knowing. But I think that’s just my paranoia to be honest!

I finished off the outfit with my old favourite sandals from Next. I bought these last summer and haven’t stopped loving them! They’re super comfortable and look good with everything. I’m living in constant fear of the day that they die because I’ll never find a pair I love as much as them!

It was really warm on Sunday afternoon and this outfit kept me cool all day. It was perfect for lounging around at the music festival but it would also look great for a casual BBQ or a summer shopping trip. When it got cooler in the evening I just put on a plain black cardigan but a cropped denim jacket would look fantastic!

Let me know in the comments what you think of my maxi dress. Do you love maxi dresses too? What’s your favourite thing to wear on warm summer days?

    1. No problem at all Rosy, I loved your post! You should definitely get a choker. I was SUPER doubtful at first but if you get one in a style that suits you then they can look really pretty. I bought the one in this post because it’s a little more feminine and discreet than some of the other chokers I’ve seen.

  2. Loved this post Sophie! The photos looks so lovely and your backpack is gorgeous! Also, I recently read your post on blogging because I saw it on twitter, and I thought it was so amazing because I could relate to it as I also don’t do beauty posts that much and I am more of a lifestyle type person,so I wanted to tell you your blog is lovely and you should keep doing what you’re doing because it is great just the way it is xx
