Monthly highlights April 2017

Monthly highlights: April 2017

April was one of the best months I’ve had in a long time! As always, it was a busy month but it was a wonderful month. There’s lots to mention, from muffins to pretty dresses, so let’s make a start.

Jordan’s birthday

April was Jordan’s birthday month so we celebrated by visiting his favourite restaurant, Turtle Bay. It’s a little spicy for me so it’s not my favourite but Jordan loves it there. I ordered the pulled pork toastie with sweet potato fries and, despite the spice, I loved it. It says on the menu that it’s great for lunch or for a small meal but there was plenty for me and I’ve got a big tummy to fill! It wasn’t too expensive either, only about £7 or £8 I think.

New job

I started my new job in April which was probably the most exciting part of the month. I’ve been hoping and wishing for a new digital marketing opportunity for a long time and it’s finally here. So far I’m really enjoying it! The company is fantastic and everyone is super nice. Plus it’s great to be working regular hours rather than different shifts everyday like I was when I was in retail.

Meal with my work colleagues

One of my work colleagues left in April so we all went out to have a little get together and to say our goodbyes. Unfortunately not everyone could make it, but those who did come along were fantastic company. We ate a lot and drank a little bit and had a wonderful night. I was sad to see Jemma go but I know she’s moving on to bigger and better things.

Summer is on it’s way

For the first time this year bits of April felt a little bit like Summer and, for me, that’s really exciting. Everyone feels happier in the summer, or at least most people do I think! Something about the sunshine just lifts my spirits and encourages me to get out of the house and have fun. I’m hoping that the coming months bring even more sunny Summer days.

My Primark gingham smock dress

When I saw the blogging babe that is Hannah Gale rocking a gingham smock dress earlier in the year I thought she looked gorgeous (as usual) but I didn’t really think much more about it. That was until I saw it in my local Primark and thought y’know what? I’ll give it a try. So I did and it looked cute so I bought it and I’ve worn it almost non-stop ever since. It’s sassy, it’s comfortable and it’s on trend and, for me, those are three things that don’t often happen together.

Binge watching Bob’s Burgers

Jordan has got Amazon Prime so we’ve been purchasing season after season of Bob’s Burgers and watching it for hours on end. Absolute bliss! There’s some hilarious episodes that I’ve seen before but also some that I haven’t. I can’t choose a favourite character, it’s either Linda or Tina. Jordan’s favourite is Bob. He says that he’s like Bob and I’m like Linda but sometimes I feel more like Tina. Who do you think I’m most like?

Scouting for Girls tickets

A couple of years ago me and my best friend Sophie got tickets to see Scouting for Girls at Rock City in Nottingham. I knew they’d be good but they absolutely blew me away and it was one of the best gigs I’ve ever been to! So when they announced their 10th anniversary tour we knew we had to see them again. Roll on December 1st! I can’t wait.

BBs Victoria sponge muffin

I’m always banging on about how much I love BBs, especially in my monthly highlights posts. Recently they launched a brand new muffin, the Victoria sponge muffin. I love Victoria sponge cake so I knew I had to try it. I didn’t think it would top their sticky toffee muffin but I thought it would be tasty. Well, I was wrong because it’s my new favourite! It’s a plain sponge muffin with jam running through the middle and buttercream on the top. You should definitely try it if there’s a BBs near you.

I love writing my highlights posts because it helps me to look back and remember the best bits! Leave me a comment and tell me your April highlights. What did you get up to last month?

  1. I have been umming and ahhhing over the Hannah gale primark smock dress but I have been holding back! I was obsessed with a mango dress she had last year and found it recently in a charity shop for £4.49 ☺️

I need to see you soon but I’m glad your doi well and enjoying the new job!

    1. Charlotte you are the charity shop queen! I don’t know how you do it. I am in need of another charity shop shopping spree very soon please! It’s been so long since I’ve seen you 🙁

    1. Do you mean Teddy? He’s such a sweetheart isn’t he?! I like him too. You should definitely try the Victoria sponge muffin if there’s a BBs near you!

  2. I miss Primark, I don’t have one where I live now and now I don’t have one I see so many people talking about awesome stuff they’ve found there. I swear when I lived near one I never found anything good in there haha. x

    1. That’s always how things turn out isn’t it? I’m lucky to have at least two near to me but it’s always when I fancy a bargain that I can’t find anything. Every now and then though I find a real gem x
