Monthly highlights: May 2017

Last month was a busy one! So busy in fact that I forgot to list my highlights as I went along so I had to have a bit of a brainstorm last week to remember what I’d been up to. Hopefully I’ve remembered everything!

Gig tickets

May was a very expensive month for me. To be honest, I’m still trying to come to terms with just how much money I’ve spent! It doesn’t matter though because I spent it on some amazing experiences that I can’t wait to have in a few months time. I’ve been waiting for the Impractical Jokers to officially announce another UK tour for months! I literally just missed out on tickets for their Santiago Sent Us tour back in January and I was heartbroken so I was determined not to miss out this time. I’m going with my brother and we’re seeing them at the Motorpoint Arena in Nottingham on the 11th of October. There’s been a bit of confusion about what show they’re actually playing, but I think it’s the Where’s Larry? tour. They changed it after the tickets went on sale for some reason. It doesn’t matter to me though because I know for sure that whatever we show we see will be amazing!

During the month of May I also managed to bag myself tickets to see The Kooks! Kinda like the Jokers, I missed out on their previous UK tour too so I knew I couldn’t miss out this time. I’m going with my bestie Sophie (follow her on Twitter!) and I just know we’re gonna have the best time. I’ve been a fan of The Kooks for years so I’m super excited to see them live for the first time!

By this point I thought all my ticket buying was done for the time being, but I was wrong. I was scrolling through Facebook (as you do) and I came across an ad for Little Mix’s UK tour latest this year. I didn’t realise there was still tickets available for their Nottingham shows so I immediately got onto the Motorpoint Arena website to have a look and there they were! My brother is their biggest fan and I thought that their tour was sold out! I couldn’t let him miss out, so I bought Little Mix tickets too. He was over the moon when I told him and we’re both ridiculously excited to see them live! We just know they’ll be amazing.

My Alpha journey

On a different note, in May I started an Alpha course. You might not have heard of Alpha (I know I hadn’t before I started going to church) but it’s basically a course for literally anyone which teaches you the basics of Christianity. In my group there are lifelong Christians, people who wouldn’t consider themselves Christian and people like me who are just learning about Christianity. We start off with a meal and then we watch a video or listen to a talk and then have a discussion about what we’ve learned. No opinions are off-limits and you can say as much or as little as you want. I’ve made so many friends already and learned so much about Christianity. If you’re interested you can find out more on the Alpha website. There’s Alpha courses happening all over the country and they’re free to attend, they just ask you to give a small donation (if you can) for your meal.

Britain’s Next Top Model

During May (and a little bit of April I think) me and my mum spent our Saturday evenings watching Britain’s Next Top Model. Like with all reality TV shows fuelled by drama and competition, I was hooked. I’ve seen the odd series before but I’ve never been a dedicated viewer, until now obviously. Each episode aired on the Thursday night I think but we used to watch the repeat on the Saturday night instead. So, unfortunately, I saw a Dorothy Perkins Instagram post congratulating the winner before I’d actually seen the final episode. I was devastated. I still loved the final though and the series as a whole was fantastic!

My fave blog post in a long time

Since around October last year I’ve not been publishing posts as often as I was before. I sometimes struggle to find the time so when I do I try and make the post the best it can be. My sassy pink biker jacket post was no exception. It goes without saying, I’m not the best at having my photo taken. I’m a bit awkward and not the most photogenic so when I dragged my boyfriend out to take a few outfit shots I wasn’t expecting much to come from it. Luckily for me the shots were actually really great and I just knew I had to write a post about my new fave jacket and include them in it! I loved the post, but it seems as though you all loved it too which makes me really happy. I truly appreciate the love and support, thank you!

Exploring Paradise Island Adventure Golf

The lovely people from Paradise Island Adventure Golf in Derby got in touch sometime in May to invite me along to give it a whirl. I don’t think I’ve ever been adventure golfing before and it looked like tons of fun so I went along one Sunday afternoon with my brother. We spent a good couple of hours there and we had the best time! It was actually much more challenging than we thought it was going to be! I won’t give too much away though because I’m currently in the process of writing a whole post about how much fun we had so keep your eyes peeled for that one.

So that’s what I did in May, what did you do? Was your month as busy as mine? Leave me a comment and tell me some of your May highlights.

  1. NO WAY are you going to see Impractical Jokers!! I’m so jealous!! You’ll have a fab time no matter what they do.
The Alpha course sounds really interesting. Do you know if there are courses like that to learn about other religions? I think the entire country could do with some schooling in Islam right now…
Sounds like you had a good month! Hope June is just as good for you. 🙂

    1. You know what Hannah, I don’t know if there is Alpha for other religions. I think there should be if there isn’t! It’s a fantastic course. Thank you for your kind comment, I really appreciate it x
