I feel like I always open my monthly highlights posts in exactly the same way.
June was a busy month and, as usual, there’s a lot to mention. My June highlights include music, food and just general bits and bobs. It’s a mixed bag but if you’re a regular reader over here then you’ll know that already! Let’s get started, shall we?
One Love Manchester benefit concert
I’m sure almost everyone has seen at least some of the One Love Manchester benefit concert that took place early in June. I watched the whole thing from start to finish and it was honestly one of the most emotional things I’ve ever seen. The victims of the attack were enormously brave to attend the concert so soon after the attack. And, I’m sure I’m not alone when I say that the whole of the UK is in complete awe at the way Ariana has responded to the attack. She is a wonderful human being.
M&S Spirit of Summer smoky paprika potato salad
I mentioned the M&S chipotle potato salad all the way back in August in my very first monthly favourites post. It was a part of their Spirit of Summer range last year and it was pretty much all I wanted to eat all summer long. Well, this year they’ve brought it back and swapped the chipotle for paprika and honestly I think it’s an improvement. I didn’t think you could improve on perfection but obviously I was wrong! If you haven’t already then you need to try it. Get it while you can, the Spirit of Summer range won’t be around forever!
Alpha day away
In last month’s monthly highlights post I mentioned that I was taking part in an Alpha course. The highly anticipated Alpha day away took place in June which basically involved us spending a whole day doing the activities we usually have to cram into two hours on a Tuesday night. It was a wonderful day but it was very overwhelming. I was really emotional and it took me a while to take in everything that had happened. It’s a learning curve though and it gave me a lot to think about so that’s the main thing!
I bought my Fitbit Flex 2 in January in the hope of turning over a new leaf and losing some weight. Unfortunately my leaf only remained turned for about two or three months and then I fell off the weight loss bandwagon and slipped back into old habits. However I still love my Fitbit. I like to see how many steps I’ve done, how many calories I’ve burned and how well I’ve slept. It’s interesting to me. So when I saw the Alta HR on special offer at QVC in June I could not resist! I’ve been wanting to upgrade for months and I’m super happy I finally did. If you’re debating whether or not to invest in a Fitbit then definitely do! It’s one of the best things I’ve ever bought.
Similarly to my Fitbit, I was umming and ahhing over Spotify Premium for a really long time. I actually decided to upgrade to premium a few months ago but it was only in June when I realised just how much I actually depend on it. I don’t remember the last time I charged my iPod; I just don’t need it anymore! Also it’s amazing value for money. I’ve got literally a world of music at my fingertips. I use it almost every single day and I’d be lost without it.
Judge me all you want, but I am addicted to Love Island. I know you either love it or you hate it but I find it hard to believe that anyone could watch Love Island and not become instantly hooked. It kicked off in early June and so far I’ve only missed two episodes. My favourites are obviously Marcel and Gabby and I kinda like Montana and Alex too. But, let’s be honest, nothing stays the same for long in the villa so they might not be together anymore by the time you’re reading this!
Leave me a comment and tell me some of your June highlights. I’d love to know what you’ve been up to! Also, do you love or hate Love Island? Do you have a favourite couple? Do you have a least favourite couple? Let me know!
