Birthday burgers at Byron, intu Derby

I first visited Byron in intu Derby way back when it first opened a couple of years ago and I’ve never been back. Mostly because of the bad service I received while I was there but also because I thought the food was overpriced. So when intu Derby invited me along to celebrate Byron’s tenth birthday I wasn’t jumping for joy but I had an open mind. We arrived a little early but we were quickly shown to our table. We were seated with another blogger, Gemma from The Gem Agenda and her friend. I’ve only ever met Gemma once…

Bodega, Derby: The press party

Bodega have been on my radar now for a while. I’d heard wonderful things about their restaurant in Leicester as a few of my friends had been and written about it. But the thing is, I don’t visit Leicester very often so I’ve always missed out. Until now! A few months ago (I think I was on my way to The Orange Tree) I noticed that Bodega was opening soon in Derby. There were some posters up in an empty restaurant at the bottom of Sadler Gate. Honestly at the time I thought to myself “I wonder if they’ll put on…

Ten heavenly chocolate milkshakes you need to try

Happy chocolate milkshake day! I hope you don’t mind but I’m beginning the celebrations a tad early. It’s not actually chocolate milkshake day until Monday. But I thought I would get into the spirit of things by sharing with you my top ten chocolate milkshakes. I haven’t always been a big milkshake lover. Some of my top milkshakes can be found all over the UK so don’t be upset if you don’t live in the East Midlands like…

Maybe I was wrong about Krispy Kreme!

A few months ago I wrote about how I don’t like Krispy Kreme doughnuts. It’s been one of my most popular posts so far and I’ve received lots of lovely comments suggesting that I give Krispy Kreme another shot. I never wrote the post in the hope that people would convince me to give them another try. However, in the end, that’s how it turned out so I thought it would be wrong for me not to. Most people recommended that I try an original glazed doughnut rather than one of the fancy ones with toppings and fillings. The glazed Krispy…

#DerbyBloggersBrunch – my first ever blogger meet up!

So today I went to my first ever blogger meet up. It was the #DerbyBloggersBrunch organised by the lovely Monet from Munching With Monet. It took place at The Cosy Club in Derby, one of the latest exciting new restaurants to open up in the city centre. I’d never been before but I’d heard and read great things about it so I couldn’t wait to try it for myself, as well as meet a great bunch of local bloggers. I got to the meet a little early because I really didn’t want to be the last one there, I don’t know…
