#DerbyBloggersBrunch – my first ever blogger meet up!

So today I went to my first ever blogger meet up. It was the #DerbyBloggersBrunch organised by the lovely Monet from Munching With Monet. It took place at The Cosy Club in Derby, one of the latest exciting new restaurants to open up in the city centre. I’d never been before but I’d heard and read great things about it so I couldn’t wait to try it for myself, as well as meet a great bunch of local bloggers.

I got to the meet a little early because I really didn’t want to be the last one there, I don’t know why! I was super nervous but I quickly got chatting to Martha from Cafes With Kids, mostly about blogging (of course). I was also super thrilled to meet Olivia from Living on a Shoestring as I’ve been reading her blog for years and she’s a blogger I look up to.

The venue itself was completely unique, like nothing I’ve ever seen before. There were chandeliers everywhere and picture frames and mirrors all over the walls. The furniture was large and comfortable and it gave the place a homey feel. Probably why it’s called The Cosy Club, because it’s got a real cosy atmosphere.

Once everyone had arrived we went through to our table. Everyone was snapping pictures and rummaging through their goodie bags, there was excitement in the air. The table was super long because there were so many of us so we kinda split into small groups. I sat on the very end of the table with Becky from The Explorer, Olivia from Living on a Shoestring, Martha from Cafes With Kids and Leanne from Oh Simple Thing.

We were chatting about everything from switching from Blogger to WordPress to wedding planning and bridezillas. Someone had told me that it would be just like sitting around and having a good chat with your mates and I didn’t believe them, but they were right.

We needed to preorder our food choices so I chose the Cosy breakfast which consisted of sausage, bacon, eggs (cooked to your preference), potato chunks, black pudding, baked beans, mushroom, tomato and toast. I knew it was going to be big so I was afraid that I would look really greedy if no one else ordered the same thing. Unfortunately my fear came true.

My plate was enormous, even bigger than I imagined, and mine was the last meal to be brought over so everyone could see just how big it was. I was so embarrassed but I’ll be honest, I have no regrets, it was delicious.

The pancakes were popular with the other bloggers and the Cosy eggs were popular too. Everyone’s meals looked so delicious, I’ll have to go for brunch again so I can try something different. I’ve already insisted to Jordan that we’ll be going there for a meal one day soon.

As it was my first ever meet up and because my blog has only been up and running for a few months I was super nervous but I didn’t have anything to worry about. I had a great time and everyone was truly lovely. I hope we have another #DerbyBloggersBrunch sometime because I really enjoyed it!

I’d just like to say a huge thank you to Monet from Munching With Monet for arranging the meet. She did a fantastic job and I really enjoyed meeting other local bloggers, trying the incredible food at The Cosy Club and stepping outside my comfort zone for a change! It’s made me excited to go to other blogger meets in the future.

Let me know in the comments if you’ve ever been to a blogger meet up. If so, where and when? Did you enjoy it? If you haven’t been to a blogger meet up before, do you think you’d like to?

I’d love to go to a meet up but they never seem to be in my area, or if they are I’m missing out!

Ooh I got a mention! Lovely to chat to you too! I thought the décor was a bit too grand to be cosy, myself. Hopefully see you at the next one.
