intu Derby student night: my experience and my bargains!

intu Derby student night bargains

I’ve been working full time for a little over a year now, and I mourn my old student life almost everyday. Not because I enjoyed school or college. In fact, that couldn’t be further from the truth. I miss being a student because they get some awesome discounts. So when I was invited along to the intu Derby student night I jumped at the chance!

I do get the odd 10% off here and there with my NUS Apprentice card. However the brands at intu Derby student night were offering up to 50% discounts! And that, my friends, is music to my ears. It’s probably music to everyone’s ears to be fair! I mean, who doesn’t love a bargain?

I brought my boyfriend Jordan along because he was pretty eager to grab a bargain or two himself. We thought we’d got there early, but the queue was already out the doors! We quickly grabbed our wristbands and found a place in line and, before we knew it, it was time to head in.

The atmosphere hit us as soon as we walked in. There was music pumping through the centre and dozens of intu staff welcoming us with smiles and friendly faces. I already had a plan of where I wanted to go and what I wanted to buy, so we started downstairs.

My brother, my boyfriend and I went to see Sausage Party last week and my brother confessed that he didn’t know what a Twinkie was. Obviously me and my boyfriend were horrified, so I had to buy him a box. I thought they’d be around £10 a box, but Candy Junction were selling them for only £2.99 with an extra 20% off as well! Bargain one in the bag straight away.

We made our way upstairs and, I’m gonna be honest, that’s where the real party was. There were DJs in the malls and in some of the stores too. I’d never been to student night before, but now I wish I had! There was even people wrestling in a huge blow up wrestling ring.

Office were offering a pretty decent 20% off, so we couldn’t resist popping in and having a look. Unfortunately I didn’t find anything for myself but Jordan had better luck. He found a snazzy pair of boots for more than half price! It’s safe to say he was very pleased.

Next up was Paperchase and I knew exactly what I wanted. I’d spotted a groovy pass case in their Nottingham store the week before so I picked it up straight away. I’d seen the bloggers journal countless times in store and in posts by other bloggers but I’d never taken the plunge and bought one for myself. With 20% off I didn’t have an excuse not to so I went for it. I need to be more organised with my blog anyway so this will go to good use!

I stopped by Schuh to look for a specific pair of shoes. I wanted them to replace my winter shoes from last year that I wore to death. I found them straight away, tried them on and fell in love. They were exactly what I wanted! With 20% off they were only £32 which I thought was pretty good.

Jordan was desperate for a new pair of jeans so we looked in Debenhams. It’s one of my favourite stores as there’s so many brands all in the same place. He managed to bag two pairs of jeans for £45 which I thought was a decent deal. He was happy anyway so that’s the main thing.

Almost everyone I saw was walking around with a box of Krispy Kreme doughnuts so, in the end, temptation got the better of me. They were selling pre-packed boxes of a dozen doughnuts for 20% off normal prices. As much as I love Krispy Kreme they’re kinda expensive so it was great to have that discount.

I bought a tin of love heart themed plasters from Tiger a couple of weeks ago. When I got a blister last week I used up quite a few of them, so I needed to restock before they sold out. Luckily they had a few tins left, but they also had some animal themed plasters too. Tiger are really affordable anyway but the extra 20% off was fantastic!

Overall it was a great night. The bargains were incredible, so the live music and entertainment were extra bonuses. The evening was well organised and we didn’t come across any hiccups at all. The staff were all really friendly and made sure everyone was looked after. Jordan said the same too!

I don’t know why I never went to an intu Derby student night when I was actually a student. All of my friends did! I’ve missed my chance now but if you’re a student then I’d definitely recommend that you check it out. I’m sure they do something similar every year so be on the lookout.

Let me know in the comments if you’re a student. If so, have you been to your local student night? Tell me the best student discount you’ve ever received.

I was invited to this event in exchange for this post.

I’m going to the one in Huddersfield tonight although our shopping centre is tiny so I might not be there that long! Looks like you had a great evening . . . I actually popped very briefly into this centre in Derby a few weeks back and it was impressive!

I’ve got to admit, the Derby centre is fantastic. I’m very lucky to live in between the wonderful Derby centre and the intu Victoria Centre in Nottingham. I hope you had a great time at the event in Huddersfield!
