Monthly highlights: January 2017

It’s been quite a while since I’ve done a good old-fashioned monthly highlights post. Honestly, I’ve missed writing these. Sometimes it feels like the months fly by without me stopping for a moment to think about what I’ve done. So that’s what I’m gonna do now. Sit back and relax folks, it’s been a busy month!

The new year

2016 definitely wasn’t the best year for me. I couldn’t wait to put it behind me to be honest. I see 2017 as a fresh start, a blank canvas. I’m not sure where I’ll be in six months and that’s kinda scary but it’s also exciting. I’m going to do my very best to make this year a good one!

My blog’s first birthday

This month marked my blog’s first birthday which, for me, was very special. I didn’t make a big deal about it on here because (as always) I didn’t have time to write up a decent post. Also, if I’m 100% honest with you, my blog’s birthday took me by surprise. I thought I started my blog towards the end of January but it was actually more in the middle. Hopefully next year I’ll be more prepared so I can celebrate properly!

Making the most of my Fitbit

I’ve been wondering for a long time how many steps I do each day. Also I had the same thought as almost everyone else on the planet and decided that I want to lose some weight this year. So I bought myself a Fitbit. Honestly I thought that it might be a novelty that I’d forget about after a few weeks but I was wrong! It’s one of the best things I’ve ever bought and I love it.

Eating well and doing more

You can link the MyFitnessPal app to the Fitbit app and see the amount of calories you’re consuming and compare it to the amount you’re burning. Everyday I aim to do a total of 8000 steps and at least 250 steps every hour so I’m active throughout the day. It’s great to know the effect that what I’m eating and what I’m doing has on my body.

Jokers January on Comedy Central

The whole of January on Comedy Central was dedicated to the wonderful Impractical Jokers. There was back-to-back episodes on everyday as well as double episodes of the brand new series at 10pm on Mondays. It doesn’t matter how many times I’ve seen the same episode, I still laugh out loud every time!

Burns Night at the Orange Tree, Derby

The lovely people at the Orange Tree in Derby invited me back for my first blogging event of 2017. They put on a special evening in celebration of Burns Night. There was whiskey, fancy cheese and live music. I’ve not finished my post about the event yet, but it will be up soon so keep a look out!

Those were my January best bits, tell me about yours! Leave me a comment and let me know what you did last month. Was your January good or bad? Either way, I hope you have a fabulous February!
