It’s been a while since I did a good old monthly highlights post. My last one was all the way back in January. I didn’t even realise it was that long ago to be honest!
Maybe I’ve been lazy or maybe I’ve just had an uneventful few months. Who knows? All I know is I am back with a bumper monthly highlights so buckle up kiddos.
Is Summer finally here?
May brought us some fantastic weather, did it not? Us Brits love to complain about our (usually) less than impressive weather but honestly I think May brought us more sunny days than not. We made the most of it by having a lovely bank holiday BBQ and I didn’t get sun burnt (for once!).
The Supercar Experience
Ever since I passed my test and bought my first car in October 2017 (that monthly highlights post is my best ever!) I’ve been really into cars. I’ve never really been bothered before. I wasn’t bothered about a particular model or spec. In my own words, a car just gets you from A to B.
I couldn’t feel more differently now!
I adore my car more than anything else I own. However, I love to admire lots of other cars too. Especially supercars. So me and my brother went along to the Supercar Driver Supercar Experience event at Meadowhall.
There were literally cars of all makes and models including Porsche, Lamborghini, Ferrari and Aston Martin. The sheer value of the vehicles there was literally mind-blowing! It was a great day and, better yet, it raised over £20,000 for Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice. You can find out more about the Supercar Driver club and see all the pictures from The Supercar Experience event here.
I can watch The Greatest Showman all day, everyday
Or at least I could if I didn’t have a job or anything else to do.
But seriously, my The Greatest Showman DVD which I pre-ordered probably two months ago finally came in May. It came one Saturday morning but I didn’t realise until the following Sunday so I missed out on a whole 24 hours of binge watching, sigh. I made sure to make up for the lost time though!
I finally have a proper laptop
I bought a tablet/laptop thing when I first starting blogging but, honestly, it’s been a bit useless from day one. I’ve wanted a proper laptop for well over a year but all the decent ones seemed so expensive and I just didn’t have the money. Well after I finished my apprenticeship and my pay rise came through I decided it was time. Working in IT meant my boss could recommend a really good one and get me some money off too. Bonus!
The loveliest shoutout
If you’ve read my post about my first impression of Annie’s Burger Shack then you will know that I literally adore everything about the place. In May they read my post and were lovely enough to share it with their followers across all of their social media platforms! Honestly, I was so overwhelmed and chuffed to bits. I wasn’t paid or asked to review them or anything like that so it makes it even sweeter that they appreciated my effort and showed it in such a big way.
Nottingham in Fashion – Nottingham Fashion Week
I was super excited and grateful to be invited along to an incredible event earlier in May with It’s In Nottingham to celebrate Nottingham Fashion Week. There was a fabulous pop-up catwalk show in The Exchange and then a beautiful afternoon tea at Curious Manor. We were well and truly spoilt rotten! You can read all about Nottingham in Fashion 2018 here.
My recent fashion finds
During May I spent a lot of time umming and ahhing about whether to buy clothes and shoes and a lot of time buying the clothes and shoes. Some of my faves include a gorgeous rust orange suedette jacket from Primark, an embroidered khaki jacket from Tu at Sainsbury’s and these beautiful metallic sandals from Birkenstock.
I’d really like to share some more fashion content with you guys! It’s one of my favourite types of content to create but it’s not easy for me. There’s a post all about why I find fashion content so difficult to create coming soon.
My latest piercings
I don’t have loads of piercings. I have my ear lobes pierced twice in each and my nose. However, I’ve always wanted to get the top part of my ear pierced and never have. Then, out of the blue one day, I decided I wanted two piercings in the top part of my left ear: one a stud, the other a hoop. Don’t ask why, it was as spontaneous as it sounds.
I waited a couple of weeks and then I went and got it done. I thought, if I don’t now then will I ever? I was worried about the positioning of them as I didn’t want them too far down or too far into my ear but Jess at Bodycraft in Nottingham did the most perfect job I could have wished for. I’m so happy with the result, I literally adore them!
I hope your May was filled with lots of wonderful moments. Feel free to share some of your favourites in the comments! I’d really appreciate it.
