Why are bloggers being criticised for not being “real”?

The latest bandwagon in the blogosphere seems to be criticising bloggers/influencers/people in general for posting content that isn’t considered “real” and, to be honest, I don’t understand it. Particularly on Instagram. I understand people wanting to follow bloggers who share the more everyday bits of their life, like their weekly shop (I love a good Lidl haul), their health issues or their cleaning routine (c’mon, who doesn’t adore Mrs Hinch?). But I also understand that it’s not for everyone. The only thing I don’t understand is the need to criticise. What even is “real”? Who decides what it is or…

A little chat about my blogging journey and what I’ve learned from it so far

I’ve been in and out of the blogging loop for the majority of my blogger life to be honest. Definitely for at least the last couple of years. So if you’re still here, thank you for joining me. I’m glad you could make it. When I started in January 2016 I felt excited, full of energy and buzzing to share my ideas with the world. 5 struggles I have when it comes to creating kick-ass fashion content

Fashion content is some of my favourite content to create. However I very rarely publish fashion-related posts and that’s because I find fashion content so hard to create. It’s not for lack of inspiration, I am bursting with inspiration! Seeing my fave blogging gals push out killer posts day-in day-out pushes me to do the same. But there’s a few obstacles in my way, and I’m hoping I’m not alone. I often dress with convenience in mind rather than fashion If I’m going to share an outfit then it needs to be an outfit I adore, that I feel fabulous…

#DerbyBloggersBrunch at BEAR

I can remember two years ago; I’d only been blogging for a few months and I was just a shy little blogger hoping to make a few friends and learn more about the blogging industry. So, when I first read about #DerbyBloggersBrunch, I jumped at the opportunity to get involved! #DerbyBloggersBrunch was my first ever meet up so it’s always held a special place in my lil blogger heart. I went along to the first #DerbyBloggersBrunch at The Cosy Club (you can read all about it here) but since then there’s been three more. I missed out on two of…

It’s okay to take a break if you need one

I’ve seen a lot of bloggers announce that they’re going to take a break lately, whether it be from social media or blogging in general. Sometimes we need to take a break, too much of anything can be bad for us. There’s no shame in admitting that you need some time out. Other people have said it and I’m going to say it too; Twitter has been buzzing with hostility for weeks now, maybe even months. It feels like there isn’t a day that goes by without someone creating drama or jumping in on someone else’s. I don’t know about you, but…
