I’ve realised something about Instagram

I’ve been working on my blog photography (or at least trying to find the time to) for a long time. For me, it’s a slow process. I compare my blog and my photography to other people’s. Not in a bad way, I compare in a positive way because I compare myself to the people I’d like to be like one day. During the summer last year I decided that I needed to improve my photography. I wanted to be able to take the clean crisp images that other bloggers could. I bought a nice camera and thought of some props that…

Say hello to my new boo, my Olympus PEN

I’ve had this little hunny (AKA my Olympus PEN) for a few weeks now, but I haven’t had chance to dedicate a whole post to her. Until now that is. She wasn’t easy to get hold of, and that’s an understatement! After going back and forth with a very well known camera retailer for nearly a week I almost gave up on her. But in the end I didn’t, and boy am I glad?! I had a fair few doubts about her before I took the plunge and handed over my hard earned cash. I’ve never been into photography. I enjoy it,…

I went to the #EastMidsMeetUp!

So yesterday was the day that I have been waiting for for months – the #EastMidsMeetUp! I was super excited because it was my first proper blogger event. I attended the #DerbyBloggersBrunch in May, but that was more of a casual meet up than an event. The #EastMidsMeetUp was organised by Emmie from Carpe Diem Emmie, Kirsty from Kirsty Ralph, Kirstie from Behind the Scent and Lianne from The Brunette Says and took place at Manhattan 34 in Leicester. Around 40 bloggers attended and there were some awesome brands there such as Blogosphere Magazine, Angel Eyes and Danique Hairdressing. The wonderful Charlotte…

I’m not interested in building a mailing list, and here’s why

I see tons of posts on Pinterest and Bloglovin’ all about why I should be building a mailing list. They talk about sending newsletters and providing free resources in return for sign ups. If I’m honest the whole mailing list thing overwhelms me. I send emails and manage a mailing list at work as part of our email marketing campaigns so I know what to do. But there’s tons of reasons why, right now, promoting my blog via email just isn’t for me. Time I struggle fitting in writing blog posts, taking and designing featured images and blog promotion. So the…
