Why are bloggers being criticised for not being “real”?

The latest bandwagon in the blogosphere seems to be criticising bloggers/influencers/people in general for posting content that isn’t considered “real” and, to be honest, I don’t understand it. Particularly on Instagram. I understand people wanting to follow bloggers who share the more everyday bits of their life, like their weekly shop (I love a good Lidl haul), their health issues or their cleaning routine (c’mon, who doesn’t adore Mrs Hinch?). But I also understand that it’s not for everyone. The only thing I don’t understand is the need to criticise. What even is “real”? Who decides what it is or…

Airbnb: Thoughts from a first-timer and the hidden gem I found

I had always been sceptical (to say the least!) about Airbnb. I’d read a few horror stories, seen a couple of bad reports and had never really considered booking with them to be honest because of what I’d heard. That was until I was desperately hunting for somewhere half-decent but also affordable for us to stay during our break away in the summer. We hoped to extend our seaside break to Scarborough for an extra night in York – a little stop off on the way home if you like. Hotels were averaging at between £70 and £90 a night…

A little chat about my blogging journey and what I’ve learned from it so far

I’ve been in and out of the blogging loop for the majority of my blogger life to be honest. Definitely for at least the last couple of years. So if you’re still here, thank you for joining me. I’m glad you could make it. When I started in January 2016 I felt excited, full of energy and buzzing to share my ideas with the world. I used to log onto my computer every night to either read blogs or write my own posts. I used to feel like I’d let myself down if I didn’t post at least three times…

I’m not vegan but this is what I’m doing to make the world a better place

I can remember when I didn’t know what it meant to be vegan and, to be honest, it wasn’t that long ago. Nowadays almost everyone knows at least one or two vegans and veganism is probably just as common, if not more so, than vegetarianism. I didn’t used to understand why people wanted to be vegan. I used to (naively) think that if an animal wasn’t killed for their produce then they weren’t harmed at all. Obviously I now know that I was completely wrong in thinking that and I’m ashamed that I ever did. But I guess the first…

I want to lose weight and there is nothing wrong with that

I’ve seen a lot of people posting about their new year’s goals and resolutions but this year I’ve noticed a change. I’ve noticed less people want to lose weight and more people want to embrace their size and love their bodies as they are. Obviously, this is fantastic! I love seeing people love themselves; it’s something I wish I could do! But I can’t, and that’s why I want to lose weight and, frankly, there is nothing wrong with that. I’ve been a big girl my whole life. I’ve always had an appetite and I’ve always loved food. I’m notorious…
